Event Description
An evening of New World showstoppers. South Africa's unique contribution to the world of wine comes from its distinctive history and climate, while wines from the USA firmly rival the best made in Europe. Come and discover more.
South Africa has a long history of wine production going back 400 years. Since the abolition of apartheid the quality of its winemaking has risen dramatically.
Elegant reds and whites are now the order of the day, served up by a new generation of winemakers.
The USA seems to offer two contradictory wine images. There is a sea of cheap branded wine sold by the container load in supermarkets, but there is also an exclusive and expensive world of boutique Napa Valley wineries.
We'll discover strawberry scented red Zinfandel (not the pink stuff), creamy soft Chardonnay and a taste of Napa.
During the evening we will cover:
- understanding the influence of climate
- the fascinating Pinotage grape variety
- the expensive taste of Napa Valley
- gorgeous old vine Zinfandel
- emulating the Bordeaux blend
All tastings include: a minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and cheese.
This evening tasting is part of our flagship World of Wine course. You can book a place on the 6 Week World of Wine course for £200 and get one tasting FREE here.
