Event Description
Our Introduction to Wine Saturdays are one of the most popular beginners tastings we run. Kick back, relax and enjoy the ambience as we spend the whole day tasting, learning about and enjoying our wine. Our Leeds venue is the local's favourite, The Cross Keys; known for honest, tasty and impeccably sourced seasonal food. You can expect a warm welcome and a tasty 2-course lunch from the long-standing member of the Leeds Indie scene. Maybe even linger after the tasting to enjoy a pint of cask ale!
Starting with an overview of the winemaking story, you'll quickly get to grips with the role of grape variety, climate, wine making techniques and even soil types. We'll show you how to swirl, sniff and slurp like the pros and you'll be introduced to a wide range of different wine styles. You can expect some of your favourites to crop up... Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec, Rioja Reserva... but also a few newcomers join the party... Albarino, Northern Rhone Syrah and even a dry Riesling.
Learn the basics of wine labelling terminology, how to pair food and wine, how to select wines to suit your taste, how much to spend on a bottle of wine and how to squeeze more enjoyment out of every drop!
