Event Description
Syrah is native to eastern France and is the grape behind the famous Cote Rotie and Hermitage red wines in the Northern Rhone. Syrah also is in the blend for many of mediterranean France's great wines such as Minervois, Gigondas and Chateauneuf du Pape.
World class Syrah wines are also made in wine regions as geographically diverse as California, Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina and of course Australia where the grape changes its name to Shiraz,.
The best Syrah wines have a elegant complexity to them, often as a result of winemaking techniques like natural ferments and barrel maturation. They also reflect their specific growing sites well. It's all about balance. Aromas and flvours range from raspberries, pepper spice, blackberries and liquorice to leather and earthy notes for mature wines.
Come and find out more about this fascinating grape variety as we taste six delicious, well chosen quality Syrah wines from around the world.
Wines on tasting - a great line up of six premium Syrah wines from wine regions in France, Australia, South Africa and elsewhere.
