Event Description
Barolo DOCG and Babaresco DOCG are two wine regions in the Langhe hills area near Alba in Piemonte. They both produce high quality red wines from the Nebbiolo grape. The regions gained a reputation in the late 19th century and the wine quality improved during the 1960s and 1970s when the tannic long lasting wines started to reach an international audience. Traditional winemaking in large botti is the norm although some producers experiment with shorter macerations and new barriques.
We'll meet these two regions and discover what makes the wines so special. Topics covered will include sub regions, leading producers, vintage variation and future hallengesd for the regions.
The evening will include a tutored tasting of seven Nebbiolo wines - three from Barbaresco and four from Barolo - to bring the two regions to life.
This relaxed, informative Masterclass evening will be a real treat. The evening includes seven well chosen wines, a digital presentation, tasting notes and soem artisan Italian cheeses.
