Event Description
Alsace makes some of France's most popular food friendly white wines. Although well known in France the area is something of a wine trade and wine enthusiast secret in other parts of the world.
The highest quality wines are the Grand Cru whites. There are 51 separate Grand Cru appellations in Alsace (other still wines are bottled under the Vin d'Alsace AOC) accounting for under 4% of annual production.
We will explore some of these cru single vineyards and their intense, aromatic ethereal wines. I willl also introduce you to the fascinating history of Alsace and where the region is today.
This tasting will appeal to lovers to premium white wines and Pinot Noir, people already familiar with Alsace wines and those who would like to discover them.
We'll be tasting six Grand Cru white wines
- Riesling
- Pinot Gris
- Gewurztraminer
- Muscat
- Sylvaner or Field Blend
- Pinot Noir (recently authorised for two Grand Crus)
