Event Description
Discover Castilla – La Mancha
Authentic wines made from native grape varieties, farmed in a sustainable way by a new generation of wine makers re-discovering the neglected techniques of their grand-parent’s generation – that is the essence of our wine holiday in Castilla-La Mancha. A region with a rich tradition of winemaking and gastronomy
Your home for the 4 day visit will be the peaceful Parador de Albacete an easy transfer 90 minutes inland from Alicante airport.
This wine mini-break features;
Tours and tastings at small, family owned bodegas, including the award winning Bodega Cerron. All bodegas showcasing native old vines and sustainable farming methods.
Our visits will feature wines aged in clay amphorae. Clay amphorae, or tinajas in Spanish, are the must have accessories for today’s wine maker. Behind the modern trend is a traditional craft which is an important part of the ancient heritage of this part of Spain.
A highlight of the trip is a brief tour of the fascinating Tinaja Interpretation Centre in the village of Villarrobledo, followed by a visit to a small, family owned tinaja workshop where this artisan craft has been passed down through generations.
We visit the stunning town of Alcalar de Júcar, built around a breath-taking river gorge. This picturesque destination provides a perfect backdrop for lunch and relaxation.
Gastronomy, showcasing local ingredients and traditional recipes, plays an integral role in all of our wine experiences. On this trip we will delight your palate with the authentic flavours of Castilla-La Mancha, including its famous cheeses paired perfectly with the region's wines.
This is an exclusive trip for Local Wine School customers with the number of participants limited to 16.
The cost of the trip is £1,200.00 excluding flights and includes transfers to and from Alicante airport, bed and breakfast accommodation, bodega and museum visits and meals and wine as per the itinerary.
