Event Description
Do you know what is in your wine?
As we become more aware of environmental issues wine is on a journey. From organic to biodynamic, through orange to natural.
Traditional winemaking practices that were once a liability are now a selling point. So is artisanal winemaking more authentic or merely the marketing of virtue at the expense of drinkability? Does conventional winemaking produce wines that are more correct or just more commercial?
In this tasting we will explore the impact of the natural wine revolution. Cutting through the hype and exploding a few myths along the way. We will ask, natural wine - Hipster fad or paradigm shift? Is natural wine better for you? Better for the planet? And by the end of the tasting you will be able to answer the all-important question, are the wines any good?
This is an opportunity to learn through a tutored tasting of at least 6 organic and biodynamic wines made naturally. The wines are being curated by independent natural and organic specialist KORK wine and deli.
The final choice of wines is yet to be made but early contenders include wines from Georgia, Austria - Arndorfer Schlehe, Gruner Veltliner/ Neuburger, Italy - Baglio Antico Catarrato Ciello, Sicily, Vincenzo Bianco from Fattoria di Vaira, Molise and Camillo Donati, frizzante from Emilia-Romagna.
All wines and nibbles on the evening will be suitable for vegans.
This tasting is for you if you care about what’s in your glass and are willing to explore new flavours.
