WSET Courses

A WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) qualification is a 'must-have' for anybody wanting to pursue a career in wine. The courses are equally suitable for enthusiasts who want to learn about wine in a structured way.

With progressive levels of study there are courses suitable for those just dipping a toe into the world of wine, as well as established professionals looking to enhance their career prospects.

WSET COURSES AT A GLANCE

Level 1 - An ideal starting point for you to get to grips with the basics. In a short space of time you’ll find yourself feeling more confident tasting wine, navigating a wine list, buying wine in shops and pairing wine with food.
6 hours tuition, no additional study, multiple choice exam.

Level 2 - The perfect course for you if you want to learn about a wide range of grapes and wine styles. You’ll gain the enviable knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown and the styles of wine they produce. Perfect to build on what you learn at Level 1 (but note that Level 1 is not a prerequisite for Level 2 - you can start at this level).
16 hours tuition, 28 hours of recommended additional study, multiple choice exam.
This course now also includes access to Wine With Jimmy online learning support. 

Level 3 - is for you if you want to build on knowledge gained at Level 2. We go broader and deeper - it is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the factors accounting for style, quality and price in the principal still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world. You'll learn to use tasting notes to make objective conclusions about a wine's quality and readiness for drinking.
30 hours tuition, 54 hours of recommended additional study, multiple choice & a written answer paper plus a blind tasting exam.
