Wine Trips - Piemonte

YWS are delighted to partner with Piemonte Mio's Evan Byrne to offer the ultimate wine exploration opportunity! A chance for small groups (max 8pp) of Wine Schoolers to discover Italy's greatest wine region as only the locals see it. Let Evan's experience and intimate knowledge take you to wineries, restaurants and villages which capture the very essence of Piemonte.

In 2026, we're going to offer 2 opportunities to visit Piemonte, each with some incredible experiences alongside the winery visits:

  • 27th-30th March - Ultimate Foodie - 4 wine tastings, including tastings in Barolo, Barbaresco and the Roero region, plus a visit to a chocolate producer with a chocolate tasting for the ultimate pre-Easter indulgence - find the full itinerary here
  • November (dates TBC depending on flights) - Truffle Hunter - 4 wine tastings, including tastings in Barolo, Barbaresco and the Roero region, plus a visit to the International Alba White Truffle Market to discover this decadent local specialty - find the full itinerary here

Both itineraries include accomodation, transport in the region (not including flights), winery visits, 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners, and most importantly, Evan's knowledge and expertise.

Each group will be between 6pp-8pp in size, to ensure an bespoke experience and plenty of time to spend with Evan and your winery hosts. 

These wonderful trips will cost £2,250 per person based on 2-person shared occupancy (Single occupancy supplement: £225.00 per person). Evan Byrne is a Piemonte-based winemaker and regional expert. In addition to his own eponymous micro-negociant label, Byrne Vini, he owns PiemonteMio.com, offering wine and food tours in his adopted home. 
 
The lightbulb moment that led him into the world of wine occurred at university.  Abandoning the world of design, he worked in wine shops, tasting anything and everything he could, and learning about how wine is made.  Wanting to get his hands dirty and feel the grapes beneath his feet, he spent time in Australia, taking in harvest, wine retail and cellar door work.
 
In 2001, Evan went to Piemonte to work a harvest, and never really left, bar a brief stint back in the UK where he worked at Berry Bros & Rudd.  He has now spent 20 years immersed in the wine, food and hospitality culture of the region.
 
PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY:
A deposit of 30% is required to secure the booking.  This deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.  The balance (70% of the total cost) is due not less than 28 days before the first day of the tour.
If the booking is cancelled between 28 and 15 days before the first day of the tour, you will receive a 50% refund of the balance (i.e.: 35% of the total tour cost).  If the booking is cancelled 14 days or fewer before the first day of the tour, there is no refund.
 
CODE OF CONDUCT
All travellers must be mindful and considerate of other members of the party.  Abusive, discriminatory or threatening language/behaviour will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to cancel trips/outings for anyone who does not respect the comfort and enjoyment of the group as a whole.
