Event Description
What ties together mince pies, stockings and Kevin? YES – it is almost that time of the year again: and there is no Christmas without Port!
A truly special wine with the perfect balance of fruitiness, spiciness and sweetness, Vintage Port has been a staple choice for the festive table for well over a century. And like so many others, we have had our weak moments of not finishing all our VP during celebration: learning how short the shelf life of an open bottle is the hard way!
If you would like to extend the joys of Port into the New Year, join us on the discovery with Adam Odor from School of Port, looking at Ports that last for weeks after opening, while still matching those Christmas flavours and moments perfectly. Don’t worry, he will bring some Vintage Port too, and we’ll have mince pies and cheese to put you in the festive mood.
School of Port is an educational initiative for wine professionals and wine lovers, created in 2020 by the port-mad people at Symington Family Estates to share the wonders of port and the Douro. They are the first port (sorry, pun intended) of call for anyone who wants to learn essential port knowledge and navigate more confidently around this complex wine category with relevant knowledge straight from the source: a family that is involved in making and selling port wine for 5 generations. Thousands of people have already enjoyed the short videos, interviews, expert Q&A’s, video courses and exams, all available on their website for free: https://schoolofport.com
Adam Odor is a London-based certified port wine educator, who got his WSET Levels 2 and 3 from WLWS under the tutelage of Jimmy. He worked with Davy’s and Majestic in the past and he runs tastings and masterclasses as the Ambassador and Leading Portgeek for School of Port in the UK.
