‘Nove meses de inverno, três meses de inferno’ is the colloquial Portuguese siren call for adventurers seeking to flush their bodies with a good dose of Vitamin D and great tipples! The Douro Valley has it all: over half of the world’s steepest vineyards, within a rugged, wild and breathtaking land, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest demarcated wine region, serving delicious wines for over four centuries!

Port has long been considered a winter warmer, something often overlooked between Christmases: it is time to finish up your leftover festive Port (just kidding: you should have finished it long ago!) and join Adam from School of Port on a virtual river cruise from the city of Porto to the Spanish border: discovering the region, the land and the people, while tasting 6 Ports (and a Port Cocktail) that will keep you cool during the hot season!

School of Port is an educational initiative for wine professionals and wine lovers, created in 2020 by the port-mad people at Symington Family Estates to share the wonders of port and the Douro. They are the first port (sorry, pun intended) of call for anyone who wants to learn essential port knowledge and navigate more confidently around this complex wine category with relevant knowledge straight from the source: a family that is involved in making and selling port wine for 5 generations. Adam Odor is a London-based certified port wine educator, who got his WSET Levels 2 and 3 from WLWS under the tutelage of Jimmy. He worked with Davy’s and Majestic in the past and he runs tastings and masterclasses as the Ambassador and Chief #Portgeek for School of Port in the UK.
