Event Description
"Weingut J.J Prüm is without question one of the finest estates in the Mösel" (Berry Brothers & Rudd) and "a leader in the region" (Wine Doctor Chris Kissack)
In this excellent tasting we shall taste our way through two decades of the remarkable JJ Prüm from 2003 to 2020 exclusively from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Graacher Himmelreich. The wines are all of Prädikat level including Kabinett and Spatlese and all from the regal Riesling grape variety. This is an excellent opportunity to taste Riesling across different vintages including from JJ Prüm's leading vineyard, Wehlener Sonnenuhr. As Riesling is one of the greatest white grape varieties to mature there are some true gems to discover on this tasting.
Weingut JJ Prüm
Sebastian Alois Prüm established it in 1911, after he received the vineyards as his share of the inheritance. He soon after built the winery up to a respected estate but it was under the stewardship of his son Sebastian that the estate really began to take shape. Sebastian's son, Manfred, has run the estate since 1969 and today the estate has 34 acres of vineyards planted with Riesling on steeply-sloping, schist soils. The vast majority of the holdings are in the top middle-Mösel including the famous Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Graacher Himmelreich. Yields are severely restricted and harvesting is late and often continues through to late November. The winemaking is meticulous and the wines are characterised by their purity of fruit as well as by their distinctive mineral/slate character.
Tasting Date: Friday 1st July 2022 at 7:00pm (the tasting will last approximately 2 hours).
