Event Description
Wine school founder Jimmy Smith was recently in Georgia delivering WSET tuition at the Khetsuriani Sommelier School in Tbilisi. He is a passionate ambassador for the superb wines of Georgia, the country that is often lauded as the cradle of wine, as wine is thought to originate from here and surrounding areas.
With his masterclasses in recent years on Georgian wine coupled with the series found on his YouTube channel, Jimmy was awarded the prestigious 'Honorary Sommelier of Georgia' award, only the seventh person to receive this accolade - given to those who are important ambassadors of Georgian wine. Once again Jimmy was so enthused by the developing scene of the Georgian wine industry, visiting new producers and making new friends, that he is launching new masterclasses at West London Wine School, both in-person and online.
This evening he will guide you through an evening of history and culture, acting as a 'tamada' (a toastmaker) and sharing his knowledge for this wonderful country of wine. You will taste both European styles (wines fermented/matured in stainless steel or oak) as well as the famous traditional styles produced in qvevri (large clay pots), with some being subject to longer skin macerations. Get ready for a truly unique and fascinating evening enjoying 8 wines with the newest Honorary Georgian Sommelier.
