Event Description
Journey to Italy’s sun-drenched shores at this exclusive Wine Scholar Guild masterclass exploring the distinctive wine regions of Puglia and Sardegna. This evening reveals the rich heritage, native grapes and dramatic landscapes that shape two of Italy’s most individual and flavour-driven wine cultures.
Part of the Wine Scholar Guild curriculum, this session forms a single evening of the Italian Wine Scholar – Unit 2 program, making it the ideal introduction for anyone considering deeper study on the full course. This class highlights Italy’s Adriatic heel and Mediterranean island heart — regions shaped by ancient trade routes, vibrant culinary traditions and a long lineage of local grapes perfectly adapted to climate and culture. Perfect for curious enthusiasts or those thinking of progressing into the full qualification, this evening offers a compelling taste of the breadth and depth the Wine Scholar Guild provides.
Please note that this session is not suitable for students currently enrolled in the Italian Wine Scholar Unit 2 course. It may also offer limited new discoveries for graduates of the program, though returning alumni are warmly welcome if they wish to revisit these regions through the tasting.
You’ll enjoy a guided tasting designed to showcase the unique identities of each region. Experience the bold, sun-ripened reds and vibrant rosati of Puglia — including Primitivo, Negroamaro and Nero di Troia — alongside the island-born character of Sardegna, from crisp Vermentino to aromatic Nuragus and the wild, distinctive depth of Cannonau.
Whether you’re considering embarking on the full Italian Wine Scholar Guild program or simply eager to explore Italy’s southern coast and island through the glass, this evening promises a warm and spirited voyage.
