Event Description
Jimmy's (Head Tutor) favourite fascinating tasting!
The final leg of the Italian tour taps into the deep south of Italy, into the regions of Puglia, Campania and Basilicata and the islands such as Sicily and Sardinia. The wonderful well-structured Aglianico grape is found in the south producing famous high-quality wines such as Taurasi, whilst Primitivo (related to Zinfandel) makes juicy and ripe affordable reds from Puglia. Sicily is flying the flag of modernisation with many fine examples of Fiano, Catarrato and Nero d'Avola whilst Sardinia is thriving with refreshing varieties such as Vermintino. This is truly an area of the wine world that needs plenty of attention through tasting!
This tasting is designed to explore the diverse variety of wines available from Italy produced from their fascinating indigenous grape varieties most of which are only found within Italy.
Big wine to look forward to: Taurasi DOCG
