Event Description
We continue our Italian discovery deep into the heart of Italy, where the most recognised region lies, Tuscany. Here we find the famous Sangiovese grape, the leading variety that has a major part to play in all the reds from this zone such as; Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello and the hot-topical 'Supertuscans.' In addition we find the refreshing Vernaccia and in nearby Lazio is Frascati whilst in Umbria is Orvieto. The overall topical question must be tested - are the modern-Supertuscan reds a better purchase than the traditional Sangiovese-led wines of Tuscany? Only a tasting can decide...
This tasting is designed to explore the diverse variety of wines available from Italy produced from their fascinating indigenous grape varieties most of which are only found within Italy.
Big wine to look forward to: Chianti Classico DOCG.
All tastings include: minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them; full tasting notes; tasting sheet; use of professional tastings glasses; a small selection of delicious cheese and charcuterie (with crackers) is served at this tasting.
We try to accommodate all dietary requirements, providing we are notified at least 48hrs in advance. Please note gates will open 30 minutes before the start of the class.
