Event Description
What a grape is Gamay – often regarded as lightweight fare for fun summer drinking, but we beg to differ.
Gamay à Jus Blanc (to give it its full name) dominates the region – 98% of plantings in 2018 – and particularly likes granite, which is the soil type of north-western Beaujolais. Here lie all of the crus and the best Beaujolais-Villages wines, while the south of the region is more clay-limestone in nature producing the lighter wines of generic Beaujolais.
You will taste some classics from Fleurie, Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent while also getting a look at a Beaujolais Quincié – currently Beaujolais-Villages but touted as the next cru on the block – along with a 100% Chardonnay Beaujolais Blanc.
