Rioja, located in northern Spain, is one of the country's most celebrated wine regions with international acclaim, renowned for its rich history, diverse terroir, and exceptional wines. Located in La Rioja, the Basque Country and Navarra the region is divided into three subzones: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, and Rioja Oriental, each offering unique contributions to the area's viticultural tapestry. Join Rioja fanatic and ambassador Jimmy Smith as he showcases an excellent selection of wines to bring this exceptional region to life. 

Rioja's wines are distinguished by their aging processes, which influence their flavor profiles and quality. The primary classifications include; Crianza: Red wines aged for at least two years, with a minimum of one year in oak barrels; whites and rosés aged for at least one year, including six months in oak. Reserva: Red wines aged for a minimum of three years, with at least one year in oak; whites and rosés aged for at least two years, with six months in oak. Gran Reserva: Red wines aged for at least five years, with a minimum of two years in oak; whites and rosés aged for at least four years, with six months in oak. All levels of these categories will be tasted on this wonderful evening.
