Elena Barattini

Before she found her calling in wine, she had a successful career in sports marketing, most notably for the Italian Olympic Committee at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. 

She decided to pursue her love of wine and, having moved to London from Italy 12 years ago, she joined Fortnum and Mason as a Wine Advisor, followed by five years working as a Sommelier, first with The Royal Automobile Club then The Oriental Club. While there she was promoted to Head Sommelier/Beverage Manager and completed the WSET Diploma and the WSET Educator Programme.

She then led the Education department of Berkmann Wine Cellars until 2021 and currently teaches in various wine schools in London, while providing consultancy to the on-trade.

Sharing her passion for wine and being able to make a living out of it makes her feel very privileged indeed.
