With its preference for rice and grains, butter and cream, rather than the tomato and pasta based cuisine of the south, Northern Italy has a unique food and wine culture.
Discover the food and the wines of Northern Italy as we bring them together in an evening that pairs six specially curated wines with a 3-course meal inspired by the region's culinary traditions.
Your evening begins with a glass of Franciacorta, Lombardy's answer to Champagne, before we explore the Veneto where traditional white wines such as Soave complement the seafood rich cuisine of Italy's north east.
The red wines from the Veneto are more than a match for more hearty flavours but over in Piemonte, Nebbiolo is the king of black grapes and pairs perfectly with the rich stews and meat based dishes so typical of the region. There's a lighter side to Piemonte too, with white grape varieties such as Roero Arneis proving just how food-friendly they can be.
If you have a sweet tooth, Northern Italy caters for this too, from the light, grapey fizz of Asti to the more serious red and white dessert-style wines made using the Venetian tradition of drying grapes off the vine, there's more than enough choice.
