The Walled Garden, Little Plumstead

About the venue

The Walled Garden, community shop and cafe is our delightful al-fresco summer venue. The site was originally part of the Little Plumstead Hall estate then purchased by the council and re-purposed as Little Plumstead Hospital. During this time the garden provided a therapeutic and relacing space for patients and staff. The hospital site closed in the 1960's and the Walled Garden fell into a state of disrepair. A forward thinking team of local volunteers started a project to aquire and lovingly restore the victorian Walled Garden back to its former glory and it opened in 2020. It is a community benefit society with all profits being ploughed back into the business to maintain the shop, cafe and garden to the benefit of the local community.  

The setting for our events is a stunning al-fresco patio with views over the stunning garden with its ever-changing array of plants, interesting features and heritage fruit trees. This comfortable area is covered to protect guests from any rain showers and blankets are available just in case it starts to get a bit chilly.

We recommend you arrive a few minutes before your event start time to expore your beautiful surroundings. If you grab your host, they might even pour you a glass of welcome fizz for you to enjoy as you take a stroll.
