Event Description
We’re going to be joined for our first ever Masterclass on the wines of Argentina by the person who arguably knows more about the country’s wines than anyone else in the UK, so much so that he’s known by many as ‘Mr Argentina’.
Phil Crozier sprang to public attention as the wine brains behind the Gaucho restaurants. Today, he’s the Sales Director for South American specialists Ucopia wines, having previously been European Ambassador for Wines of Argentina. No one is better placed to provide an overview both of the various regions around the country and the evolution of the wines and wineries over the past 30 years.
Phil will be guiding us through a range of eight wines (average price ~£25) including of course some Malbec, in blended and unblended form. There’ll also be examples of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Garnacha, a grape once commonly seen in Mendoza and which is now making something of a comeback. The line-up will also include three wines made from the Criolla varieties. These are grapes of European origin, but which have been in Argentina so long that they have crossed and now form a range of native varieties. Long neglected, they’re now enjoying a revival in fortunes and are producing fascinating wines that deserve the attention of wine lovers.
It’s sure to be a fabulous and popular evening, so do reserve your place now to avoid disappointment.
