Event Description
Slovenia is a small country but it packs a punch when it comes to wines! The Celts and Illyrian tribes were making wine here well before the Romans came along and the Middle Ages saw a strong wine tradition from the Monastic populations.
Post Yugoslavia, Slovenia has emerged as a strong country with a clear wine identity but with well established roots to it's traditional past - the use of Slovenian oak for their barrels is a good example.
The wine scene is dominated by a mix of international and indigenous varieties meaning there is something for everyone: classic "European" style wines from the international grapes and intriguing, complex wines from their indigenous grapes. A wonderful wine-making country that is well worth exploring in more detail.
The tasting is co-hosted with Andrew from Solaris Wines and will feature the following wines from three different producers in the Vipava Valley region:
Whites
Tilia Estate Nostra 2021 (Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay)
Tilia Estate Zelen 2020 (Zelen)
Stokelj Winery Planta Bela 2020 (Chardonnay, Rebula and Pinela)
Reds
Tilia Estate Rubido 2019 (Bordeaux blend)
Tilia Estate Estate Pinot Noir 2018
Fedora Vineyard Goli Breg 2020 (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Refosco)
Your tasting will include: a tasting samples of six carefully selected wines, full wine notes & handouts, a 2 hour interactive presentation, with Q&A, led by our wine tutor.
