Event Description
Today, Romania is Eastern Europe's most important wine economy. Some 2,700 years ago, the ancient Greeks settled in, what is today, Romania and established a flourish viticultural scene.
Romania's wine story is extraordinarily mixed; the land is a melting pot of historical cultures: the Greeks, Hungarians, Austrians and Ottoman Turks have all had a hand in Romania's political past and yet wine making has flourished, uninterrupted.
Today, Romania's Latin cultural roots and Romance language mean wine has a strong influence in their lifestyle - both in terms of wine-making and consumption; they export around 11% of production!
Join us for a unique chance to explore Romania's incredible indigenous grapes such as Feteasca regala, Welschrielsing, Rkatsiteli and Tamaioasa Romaneasca - highly unusual on the UK market so a wonderful chance to explore wonderfully unusual wines.
The tasting is co-hosted with Andrew from Solaris Wines and will feature the following wines from Prince Stirbey estate in the Dragasani region:
