Event Description
This fine wine experience gives us an opportunity to delve deeper into a world famous wine region, looking at the subzones, villages, key grapes, vintage and producers (new and traditional) and the wine styles that they produce
We'll cover the culture & history of Rioja, the geographical & climatic influences, the modern & traditional wine making techniques and look at some local food & wine pairing suggestions along with the recent changes to the wine law and labelling.
We change our tasting selection each time to showcase a wider range of top producers but we will include red wines from the following ageing categories: Genericos (young style), Crianza, Reserva & Gran Reserva.
We will also explore some of the fantastic white wines currently emerging from the region alongside wines from classic traditional producers like Muga and Marques de Murrieta as well as the emerging younger generation winemakers.
Some of the wines will be blends across a sub zone or several sub zones, others will be village or estate wines.
This will be an evening of phenomenal wines from one of the greatest wine regions - hope you can join us!
Your tasting will include: tasting portions of 6 carefully selected wines, a tasting of local cheese, a 2 hour interactive, tutor-led, presentation with lots of opportunity for Q&A.
Tutor: Victoria Aldwinckle
