Event Description
A lot of people think of Australian wine as reliable, fruit-driven wines. Whilst that is true the world of Australian wine is far more complex as is its climate. There are hot, warm, cool, dry and wet locations in Australia and they all make totally different wines. There are also a growing number of small boutique wineries where the winemakers concentrate on producing limited quantities of hand-made wines of superb quality (in contrast to the mass-produced big brands) – these are the wines we will be tasting. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, & dry Riesling!
New Zealand is fast becoming the benchmark for New World Sauvignon Blanc (from Marlborough), but there is much more to these two islands than that. South Island also produces some wonderful Pinot Noir & stunning zesty Riesling, whilst the warmer climate of North Island is home to delicious Cabernet and Merlot and fuller, softer, riper, white wines.
Your tasting will include: a tasting samples of six carefully selected wines, tasting samples of artisan cheeses, full wine notes & handouts, a 2 hour interactive presentation, with Q&A, led by our wine tutor.
This evening tasting is part of our flagship World of Wine course. You can book a place on the 3 Week Old World (£120) here or 6 Week World of Wine course (£240) here. If you book onto the 6 week course, you join each evening at 6.30pm for a private tasting of a glass of bubbles with our lead tutor.
