Alsace: The Grand Crus

Ask a wine expert which their favourite region is, and Alsace will be somewhere near the top, if not their favourite.  Yet, for most consumers it's still a region that's still approached with tentative caution - you're never sure what you are going to get.

And yet, it is perhaps one of the most unqiue grape growing regions in France.  Protected by the Vosges Mountains, this vineyard mecca is formed from a collapsed rift valley.  Over time, layers of rock and soil have been exposed giving one of the most varied terroirs in France.   The result?  A plethora of wine styles to suit all palates and plates.  

It is also home to the highest concentration of Grand Cru vineyards in one wine region - 52 at the last count!  We've selected 6 of the best which we think show the range of style & varieites in Alsace.  This is a unique chance to taste some of the greatest Alsatian wines side by side.
