Event Description
Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!
Every year, Beaujolais Nouveau Day celebrates the release of France’s most popular vin de primeur (early wine). A light and fruity red made from Gamay grapes which have been grown and harvested by around 400 small farmers in the Beaujolais region, it’s bottled and sold within just 6-8 weeks of the grapes being picked.
The 'must' (freshly picked grape juice) is pressed after only three days, so the astringent tannins usually found in red wine are hardly noticeable. As a result, Beaujolais Nouveau is almost like a white wine, despite its purple-pink colour. Expect the bright, fresh, red-fruit flavours of strawberry, raspberry and cherry, plus notes of banana, grape and pear drop which bring to mind the childhood flavours of bubble-gum.
Celebrate in style by attending this super fun virtual wine tasting on Zoom, 7.30pm start, dressed up as a French person ... and your wine tutor and French Wine Expert might be French herself, but she shall dress up too!!! ;-)
We have secured 12 bottles of the following Beaujolais Nouveau wine for you to buy and collect from our offices in eastleigh, SO50, for only £13 a bottle:
Beaujolais Villages Nouveau 2021 Jean Loron Vin Nature (No added Sulphites) 100% Gamay, unwooded.
This Beaujolais Nouveau Villages wine is from the better positioned vineyards surrounding the town of Beaujolais and fermented naturally with no sulfites added. This gives the wine a little more weight, power and flavour than the other Jean Loron's straight Beaujolais Nouveau, which is their entry level.
From an award winning supplier, Jean Loron, who for the past few vintages has been awarded the top prize in the Beaujolais Nouveau competition organised in Beaujolais each year.
Release date Thursday 18th November 2021
How to serve: Slightly chilled at about 13°c - and generously. It doesn’t improve with age, so enjoy the moment .... and let's have a virtual party altogether to celebrate this new baby! :-)
Please note: £15 will get you 1 ticket to attend this event online. A ticket is per device/household, not per person.
