Event Description
At the helm of each of the cellars presented is a wine genius or a respected oenologist or a passionate winemaker or generations upon generations of grapegrowers from the very, very, very Old World-Producing countries, such as Greece, Israel, Armenia, Georgia, Lebanon, etc.
They use local varieties, deeply rooted in Germanic, Greek, Slavic and Roman cultural influences, for creating wines in a modern, fresh styles thrughout.
Example of the wines we shall taste on the night:
- A red wine made with one of Greece’s finest indigenous grapes: Agiorgitiko, from the best wine region of Nemea
- An Areni/Malbec from Armenia, a country with a 5,000-year history of making wine
- A Kangun/Chenin Blanc from Armenia
- A Sauvignon Blanc from Israel
- A white wine from one of Georgia's indigenous grape varieties, from the country's most awarded winery: Shumi
- A wine fermented and aged in clay amphoras, orange wine is THE wine par excellence of Georgia - being the cradle of wine itself. A treat not to be missed from what is believed to be the very first wine-producing country in the world!
