Event Description
Wine lovers believe that the wines of Lebanon have a unique taste and aroma to them, regardless of their varietal.
While the whites had a diverse aroma of fruits and nuts, the reds were known for their full-bodied character of the fruits and powerful tannins.
Due to Lebanon’s cultural and political resemblance, the wines created here are always compared to those crafted at the Bordeaux and Rhone Valley.
Lebanese winemakers prefer French-style grapes. Red wines are quite popular in this part of the world. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cinsaut, Carignan and Grenache are some of the common varietals that you will find here. Apart from this, the country is also known for its indigenous style of grape varietals such as Obaideh and Merwah.
But we shall also try fabulous white wines, made with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon grapes, as well as Muscat, Viognier, and Vermentino grapes. What a magnificent array of flavours!
A mention about the famous wines of Lebanon was made by an Israeli prophet during as early as 725BC. If you want to visit a country’s who vineyards and winemaking techniques are so old that the scriptures talk about them, Lebanon is the place for you!
