Event Description
"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea." Henry James, The Portrait of a Lady
Ever since the seventh Duchess of Bedford introduced afternoon tea to England in 1840, making time for afternoon tea has been one of life’s great pleasures. So indulge your very own Mother or Wife with this most decadent treat for the senses.
Quob Park Vineyard is the perfect backdrop to a traditional afternoon tea, with nothing to disturb the tranquility but the quiet peace of the grapes maturing, the sound of my voice teaching you about food and wine pairing and the chink of flutes.
Indeed, we shall learn how to match 5 very carefully selected wines to your afternoon tea, with some traditional pairings as well as some unusual offerings ;-) You know me, there's always a twist to my tastings!
Your afternoon tea will be served on a traditional stand which will showcase thinly-sliced finger sandwiches, sausage roll and cheese straw to delicate pastries and warm scones smothered with fruity strawberry jam and thick, soft clotted cream, all thanks to Quob Park's Michelin-trained chefs.
After the workshop, you will have a good basis of knowledge that will help you combine wines with food and enhance your eating pleasure at an afternoon tea.
