Come and celebrate International Riesling Day with Cheshire Mersey Local Wine School and discover why Riesling is one of the world’s most versatile and exciting grape varieties (as well as one of our favourites)!

From bone-dry, mineral-driven wines to luscious sweet dessert wines, with sparkling Riesling thrown in for good measure, this fascinating grape can produce an incredible range of styles.

Riesling is historically associated with Germany, where it produces some of the world’s most celebrated wines, but today it is grown successfully across the globe, including Austria, France, Australia, South Africa and the USA. Its flavours can range from delicate blossom and green apple through to stone and tropical fruits.

We’ll also explore one of Riesling’s most intriguing characteristics: how the wine develops with age to create its distinctive 'Riesling nose', often described as having aromas reminiscent of petrol – which smells much nicer than it sounds!

Join us for a relaxed and informative evening as we taste a selection of wines chosen to showcase the grape’s remarkable range of flavours, regions and winemaking styles.

This wine tasting includes suitable nibbles to complement the wines, professional ISO tasting glasses and tasting notes to help you get the most from the evening.
