Event Description
Don't miss the opportunity to meet winemaker Nick Watson and taste the award-winning English wines he makes at his vineyard near Newmarket!
Nick's day job is in arable crop research, so he already understood something about soils and farming before deciding to start his vineyard. It still took him two years to find a suitable site, finally settling on Cooper's Croft in 2012.
Inspired by his father, who used to make fruit wine at home, today Nick makes sure he involves his wife and children to teach the next generation.
It's not easy growing vines in England (our climate is not ideal) and Nick can give us a no-holds-barred account of all the problems and the effects of climate change. You will understand why all English winemakers are all heroes!
This year Nick achieved the ultimate accolade and won 'Best Sparkling Wine' from WineGB East for his traditional method Pinot Noir. He adds that award to 'Best Bacchus' and 'Best Rosé' awards won previously.
Come and hear Nick's story firsthand while sampling his wines and learning more about the English wine scene.
All our events include a minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and some food pairing with nibbles.
