Event Description
Join us for an introductory look at 4 of the main red wine grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah/Shiraz. This evening is perfect for those who want to better understand these wines and the foods they best pair with.
Cabernet Sauvignon is an important grape variety in some of the world's most long-lived wines and Merlot is a great grape to blend it with. What you can expect from these grapes differs hugely depending on the country of origin, as it does with spicey Syrah/Shiraz. Pinot Noir is uniquely different and can also age for long periods.
Come and discover what makes each grape distinct and compare examples from different climates.
By the end of the evening, you will have learned:
- What is the distinct character of each grape
- How they can blend to make a better wine
- The unique advantages of each grape variety
- Main label terms to look for with each grape
- Food pairing ideas and why they work
All tastings include: a minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and some food pairing with nibbles.
All our courses can be purchased as a Gift either as a dated or undated voucher.
