Event Description
Château Palmer is one of the great names of Bordeaux. Located in the commune of Margaux on the Left Bank, this third Growth estate from the 1855 classification has long been regarded as a 'super 2nd', often matching or even surpassing First Growths in certain vintages.
Neighbouring the famous Château Margaux itself, Palmer is revered for a sensual style, with depth and harmony.
This special evening offers a rare chance to explore two of Palmer’s top wines alongside others from the Sichel family (majority owners of the estate).
We’ll trace a journey through the Sichel family's holdings, culminating in tasting the legendary Château Palmer 2005, a vintage rated 98 points by Robert Parker and retailing at around £425. We’ll also sample Alter Ego de Palmer 2019, a beautifully expressive second wine reflecting the estate’s recent evolution.
We begin with Château Argadens (white and red), introducing the Sichel family in Bordeaux, then move to Château Angludet in Margaux, tasting both the 2019 Grand Vin and its second wine La Dame d’Angludet 2021 to understand the gravelly terroir defining the commune.
Finally, we explore what makes Château Palmer one of Bordeaux’s most forward-thinking estates today. Its agroforestry project planting over a thousand fruit trees among the vines, its fully integrated biodynamic farming (from 2014), its use of cattle, sheep and hedgerows to create a balanced vineyard ecosystem, the estate’s pioneering 'island' terroir mapping and reduced sulphur use.
Together we’ll taste over £650 worth of wine in an exceptional line-up, including a legendary vintage. And the evening will be a fascinating window into how one top Bordeaux estate continues to develop and innovate in its search for excellence.
Don't miss it!
